Veronica Ingalls is struggling with giving up her failing career as a children’s book author. Her friends and family are pressuring her to pursue a more practical line of work resulting in a steady paycheck and a cubicle. She suffers an existential crisis of identity, and falls into a suspenseful battle between her inner, private self, as represented by an unwelcome infestation of bugs and the outside world, who shows up as the myopic and horrifying exterminator.
