06 Apr Cigarette Waste Brigade is Kicking Butts

I spent some time last week animating a fun video for the Cigarette Waste Brigade’s indiegogo campaign. It is a great effort to eliminate cigarette butts from the streets and keep them from getting into the cities drinking water by recycling them into industrial shipping pallets. It’s pretty cool and I’m proud to have been a part of it.

Here’s the video and the indiegogo page.

07 Mar Top 10 / Staff Pick

At Studio 360 they are still waiting for Wes Craven to choose his favorite 30 second horror short. But in the meantime they decided to choose their 10 staff favorites. And out of over 300 submissions, we made it to the top! Check out their choices here (scroll down a bit to find ours). We all worked so hard on this, it is truly amazing to be recognized at all for it.

Wes Craven will be choosing his favorite and announcing on the radio next Sunday (3/16).bookworm

01 Mar 30 Second Horror Movie

So studio 360 on NPR is having a contest for the best 30 second horror movie. The prompt was “young genius” and the judge is Wes Craven! Of course we decided to do it. A few weeks ago a bunch of us got together and spent 10 hours shooting a short, strange, little story. We had a blast.

Now we just need to wait and see if Wes likes it. The due date is tomorrow. But you can see it here.
And here’s everyone who helped out on this very tiny project.

30 Jan Lost In Space

At OFF WITH HER HEADQUARTERS we (meaning I) have been hard at work animating. The story is a short tale written by Eric Bierschenk and myself about a lonely astronaut. We reached out to local artist and friend LA Bachman to create beautiful watercolor images for us. I have been busy photoshopping, manipulating, and animating those images into a Terry Gilliam style cut out cartoon. We are almost ready for voice actors, sound track, and foley sounds to bring everything to life.

19 Dec Porter Flea Holiday Market 2013

Anyone who is anyone in Nashville knows about Porter Flea, the city’s super hip artisan craft fair. Wrapping up their 3rd year in action, they invited Mike Lacy and I out to get some behind the scenes footage of the excitement. We met a lot of friendly and talented folks and I’m excited to be editing together a short promotional video about the event.

23 Nov We’re #1!

blueribbonI don’t want to brag, but this is a big deal! Yesterday our video for Nora Jane Struthers and The Party Line’s song, Bike Ride, premiered on CMT Pure Pack Countdown at #1!

For an unsigned artist and a video made for the price of lunch to get this kind of response is amazing.  I’m so proud to honor my Grandmother and her beautiful films in such an exciting way.

23 Oct On Tour with The Party Line

On October 10th I hit the road, in a giant van, with the 5 members of the band Nora Jane Struthers and The Party Line.  Anyone who follows my work knows that this is not very surprising.  Since 2010 I have done countless videos for NJ ranging from polished music videos, to promotional work, not to mention casting her in a few videos for other artists (see: SteelDrivers videos 1 and 2).  We’ve been friends for a long time but this is the first time that I packed up and saw life from her perspective, which is most often, the view from a moving vehicle.  We started in NC and ended up as far North as my old college town in Western Mass. It was a great 9 days but I sure am happy to be back home editing the footage that I shot, while the band continues on for another week.  tourmapjpeg

Keep your eyes out in the near future for live videos, EPKs, and behind the scenes gems emerging from this mountain of video that I took.
